The Resist List
Excellent collection of topics on ways to resist AI
The AI Resist List is an activist resource that argues that today’s dominant form of large-scale generative AI is concentrating economic and political power while consuming significant amounts of data, energy, water, land, labor, and raw materials.
Rather than opposing all AI, the site focuses on resisting what it calls the “empires of AI” represented by major technology companies and promotes alternatives that emphasize human agency, local communities, sustainability, and democratic control.
It organizes examples of resistance around nine areas—narrative, funding, data, data centers, resource extraction, labor, adoption, surveillance, and policy—and catalogs real-world actions such as challenging AI hype, protecting data rights, opposing data-center projects, organizing tech workers, pursuing legal action, tracking industry influence, and supporting alternatives to Big Tech.
Overall, it is less a neutral analysis of AI than a practical directory and manifesto intended to show people how they can participate in movements seeking to limit the power and social impact of large-scale AI development.
